Call 112 immediately. Deep third-degree burns are life-threatening and need immediate hospital admission. Do not cool the wound with water; cover it with a clean, dry cloth.
Do this
• Call 112 immediately
• Do not remove clothing that is stuck to the burn
• Cover the burn with a clean dry cloth or kitchen foil (shiny side out)
• Keep the casualty warm to prevent hypothermia
• Give no food, drink or painkillers without medical advice
Warning signs
• White, black or leathery skin
• Numbness in the burnt area
• Burns to the face, hands, feet or genitals
• Inhalation injury (soot around the nose or mouth, a hoarse voice)
• The casualty is under 2 or over 65
Call 112 as soon as you can.
