Fever and Illness

CALL 112 NOW

Call 112 immediately. These can be signs of meningitis or sepsis, both life-threatening. Every minute counts with meningococcal infection; do not wait for improvement.

Do this
• Call 112 immediately and describe all the symptoms
• Lay the person down in a comfortable position
• Give no food or drink
• Do the glass test: press a glass against the spots — if they do not fade, call 112
• Stay with the person until help arrives

Warning signs
• Pinprick spots that do not fade in the glass test
• A stiff neck together with fever and headache
• Confusion or loss of consciousness
• Extreme sensitivity to light
• Cold hands and feet with a high core temperature

Call 112 as soon as you can.
