Get it? Reticulum can be broadcast on lora. #Lora is a band of frequencies on the EM spectrum that…what ever. Explaining my word play makes it worse
My next ideas are to bridge my #rss into #micron/reticulum. Get short and sweet updates from normal #http rss feeds righ in reticulum. The feed would have #links to view the full http page as well
Maybe #solar #servers? Like everything is hosted in SBCs that are powered with just the sun?
Maybe an auto file sharing thing that pushes larger files (like podcasts, pictures, or videos) to your rnode for you to view and share later? (Kinda silly, but you literally can’t stream audio in real time with lora. Like it’s physically impossible. BUTTTT you can host a large file on your rserver and have it download over Lora. Weird because we already have instant audio radio (AM/FM), but Lora is not…data dense (?) enough for it
Anyway, Idk.
This is new. I’m even newer at this.
Given the current political environment, I think it’s in our best interest to start building parallel network shit like this.
It’s the new frontier. Let’s see what we can do before it gets the internet 2.0 treatment!

I wish I was rich/sucsessful/organized enough to do things like “sabbaticals” or “creative retreats”.
As I’m writing this, my pup is staring at me and whining because I’m typing on my phone instead of giving her (all of my) attention.
We could be cuddling on the couch taking a nap, as soon as I mess with my phone or laptop, she acts so dramatic and needy.
You know that book by cal Newport called “Deep Work”? There was a part in there about needing blocks of uninterrupted time to produce great work.
At least I think that was in the book…I kept getting interrupted while reading it.

Holy smokes!
The picture doesn’t do it justice. This is insane.
The #smoke from the 835 active wild fires in Canadian wilderness.
I can smell it. I can taste it. It’s hard to breath.
Yesterday was perfectly clear. Saw pictures from areas around me with terrible air quality, but some how we were spared…until now.
Not to get “political”… on second thought that ship has FUCKING SAILED. I used to always bring up #evironmental issues, climate change, green energy etc.
People would get annoyed. Not everything has to be political, they say.
First off: everything is #politics.
Secondly: This is fucking beyond that.
The effects of climate change (and the dismantlement of protections, regulations, and government programs) staring at us in the face, filling our lungs…killing people…destroying our food production…
The world is on #fire. Our food production is voulnerable. Rule of law is a suggestion. Crime is legal. Democracy, freedom, and privacy is under attack. Human life is only worth the amount in their bank account.
Response from our “government”? Sanction Canada…
This isn’t working. NOT TALKING ABOUT “POLITICS” IS NOT WORKING.
Why do I censor myself when shit FUCKING SUCKS?!? When the worst fucking people are in charge. When the people I love don’t really care.

I called my rep about this. Was told they were getting tons of call about people expressing their concerns about the KIDS act, yet my rep didn’t vote
She is running uncontested in the primary of a light purple district. So it’s either her or some MAGA jackwagon.

I’m not even sure why I still have a Reddit. Could be an addiction? I’ve been on it since 2011 and old habits die hard.

Mail time!
A dell R340 with 16gb ram and 3 600gb enterprise HDDs. 2 1GB NIC ports plus another iDRAC port.
I have named it ‘nova’
Also got a 52 port 10G Mokerlink L3 managed switch!!!!
One of the HDDs seemed to have failed, but it still has 3 months of full dell service coverage. Hopefully I can use that to get it replace 😅
Came with a valid product key for windows server 2012. Might come in handy later? Idk
I just wiped the OS and installed proxmox. Much easier feat than when I did the T310.
However this is gunna turn my entire home network on its head.
I was in the middle of planning and testing to migrate from my one HP mini pc docker node to a more K8/pod cluster and a docker node. I started that before I was offered the T310, R340, and 52 port 10G managed switch.
Now it’s back to the drawing board.

# I am so freaking excited about:
- my work is sending me decommissioned enterprise servers *for free*
- already received and set up a Dell T310 with proxmox
- they are sending me a beefed up dell R330 and a 48 port managed switch.
- they also have older enterprise hard drives and memory sticks that don’t work with the current line of servers headed to the trash anyway ;)
# I am not so psyched about:
- being drained mentally and time wise by a full time job
- My ADD riddled brain coming up with grand plans for exciting projects, and leaving them half finished with even worse documentation
- how much power the T310 consumes…especially when compared to its capability. Doesn’t make sense to keep it on 24/7. But I can WOL and use it as a test environment or on demand repo mirror
- work and my borderline obsessive interest in building a homelab is putting other important activities on the back burner
The most valuable thing in life is time. I feel like 2019 was yesterday. I blinked and now here we are

Two nights ago I dreamed about a rabbit in my yard.
Last night, sitting on the couch watching YouTube, husband came downstairs and told me our pups got into a bunny nest.
I felt gross immediately. Frozen.
I picked up my phone to look up most humane way to deal with this
Before I could search, the first thing I saw was a post with a rabbit and a human hand raised to its mouth. Finger extended. Shushing/Pointing. Aimed in the exact direction of the scene of the crime.
I don’t have an explanation for that. It’s the one “oh that’s kind of cool” thing in an otherwise completely awful story
because everything else I’m thinking about is the sound, the suffering, the gore, the innocence of two tiny things that never had a chance. That synchronicity is the only thing my brain keeps returning to that doesn’t make me feel sick.
Meanwhile there was a dismembered baby bunny suffering in my yard.
I sat on that couch for a while. Searched my phone for the most humane way to end a small animal’s suffering in the field. The answer that kept coming up: blunt force. A rock.
Jesus.
I went outside. Two tiny buddies. No fur. Shouldn’t have even been above ground yet. Could see their mom watching from a distance.
I put the “live” one on a rock. Found another rock. Hesitated. Decided that stopping its suffering was more important than my feelings.
Dropped the rock.
What followed was a full physical and emotional breakdown. Shaking. Pacing. Staring at nothing. Repeating to myself: I didn’t start this. This had to happen. I did the right thing. Over and over, like if I said it enough times my nervous system would catch up.
My dogs followed me around all evening because they knew something was wrong. Whining. Pressing against me. And I love them…they’re sweet and they didn’t know what they were doing. But damn.
Shit is so fucked up.

Sometimes I wish I had a 3D printer
But it’s another expense. Another thing to learn. Another thing to take up space.
So for now, hopefully everything I need a case for can fit into pre made containers like this
I think it’s cool. Makes me laugh every time I look at it. An interesting conversation starter when other people see it

Im really in it now
Something clicked, and the path is clear, exciting and daunting
I’m diving head first into #reticulum and want to share some resources and inspiration
My main goal is to get my whole homelab into the reticulum protocol. If I could host and access a lite social media app, like #gotosocial, entirely with LoRa and #rnode I would be so happy
This is not prepackaged. The infrastructure needs to be built. Apps/bridges need to be built. It’s not pretty…yet. But I am very excited about the possibilities
