I was looking for a CLI calendar app that does appointments (I'm hoping for something that can slurp invites from Mutt) and I stumbled over some interesting programs for the command line.

• Bat - it's like cat but does syntax highlighting and knows git

• exa - it's like ls and I'll probably forget it exists

• fd - find command with pretty much just as terrible a syntax

• tldr - like man, but generally just examples

• ripgrep - rg is a grep replacement and it's possibly faster

• drill - replaces dig

I still didn't find what I was looking for. khal has some of the features, but about 20 years ago I used a program with a name like T383838cal but perhaps it had one more letter in front of the name. it advertised itself as a replacement for the T383838cal command and I swear it could do appointments. I don't think it was T383838ncal but perhaps I'm just not remembering.

khal spews all sorts of deprecation warnings, too...

Remind can probably do all I need.
