SUMMARY
The full AARO-published inventory of all 162 items in PURSUE Release 01, posted to war.gov/UFO/ on May 8, 2026. Includes 120 PDFs, 28 videos, 14 images, ~2.3 GiB total, 4,185 PDF pages. Sourced from the open-source mirror at github.com/DenisSergeevitch/UFO-USA, which downloaded all 120 PDFs successfully via curl and converted the FBI 62-HQ-83894 case file (1,104 pages across 6 sections) to markdown using Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite.
This is the primary-source spine for second-mind's coverage of the release. Per-case wiki sources cover the most substantive individual files. The full inventory raw extract lives in 'raw/_ingested/2026-05-08-PURSUE-Release-01-Full-Inventory.md'.
DISTRIBUTION BY TYPE
- 120 PDFs. Mostly Mission Reports (DOW-UAP-D series), historical Department of War / Air Force / FBI flying-discs case files (1944–1968), State Department cables, and the COMETA report.
- 28 Videos. All AARO-published infrared sensor clips with deflationary "area of contrast" descriptions. Includes the football-shaped INDOPACOM 2024 video.
- 14 Images. Eight FBI A-series photos, Apollo 12 + Apollo 17 archival photos with highlighted "areas of interest," the Apollo 17 VM6 triangular-formation photo.
DISTRIBUTION BY AGENCY
- Department of War (incl. AARO and combatant commands) — bulk of mission reports.
- FBI — 13 sections of the 62-HQ-83894 flying-discs case file (1947–1968), plus FBI photos and three 302 interview reports on the September 2023 Bronze Ellipsoid case.
- NASA — Apollo 11 / 12 / 17, Skylab, and Gemini 7 transcripts and photos.
- Department of State — five cables (Papua New Guinea 1985, Kazakhstan 1994, Georgia 2001, Turkmenistan 2004, Mexico 2003) and the USPER Statement.
WHAT'S SUBSTANTIVE VS WHAT'S FILLER
Substantive in evidentiary terms (cases worth tracking):
- NASA-UAP-VM6, Apollo 17 triangular formation — government's "potentially the result of a physical object" call, original film retrieved.
- September 2023 Bronze Ellipsoid (FBI) — 130-195 ft long, multi-witness, FBI Lab composite sketch.
- USPER Statement — senior US intelligence official, FBI 302 interview, super-hot orb outran a helicopter for 20 miles plus 30 minutes of pulsing-orb behavior.
- State Dept Cable 5, Mexico 2003 — Congress shown alleged alien corpses on the record.
- State Dept Cable 2, Kazakhstan 1994 — 747 crew encounter, photos taken, contrails reportedly observed at 100,000 ft.
- Western US "Orbs Launching Orbs" 2023 — seven federal officers, orange orbs launching red orbs, AARO calls it "among the most compelling within AARO's current holdings."
Filler / known/explained:
- DOW-UAP-PR21 (Iraq 2022) — AARO comment notes the report described UAP as "probable SU-27/35," which AARO clarifies are Russian fighter aircraft.
- DOW-UAP-PR45 (Southern US 2020) — AARO comment notes the apparent size increase is "likely to be at least partially attributable to the U.S. platform closing the distance." (Parallax.)
- DOW-UAP-PR38 (Middle East 2013) — Modal Image text identifies it as "Resolved as an Aircraft, Middle East 2013" despite being included in the unresolved tranche.
- Bulk of the FBI 62-HQ-83894 case file is bureaucratic routing slips and clipping books.
- Several DOW-UAP D-series mission reports describe single brief UAP observations with minimal narrative.
STRUCTURAL READ
AARO's deflationary language is consistent throughout. Every video description ends with: "Readers should not interpret any part of this description as reflecting an analytical judgment, investigative conclusion, or factual determination regarding the described event's validity, nature, or significance." Every mission report ends with: "All descriptive and estimative language contained in this report reflects the reporter's subjective interpretation at the time of the event. Such characterizations should not be interpreted as a conclusive indication of the presence or absence of any intrinsic object features or performance characteristics."
This is the AARO methodological signature. It works two ways: (1) it prevents the office from being read as endorsing extraordinary claims, (2) it lets the office publish striking material without committing to it.
The Apollo 17 VM6 case is the only one where AARO's language softens to "potentially the result of a physical object" — the strongest commitment in the entire release.
62-HQ-83894 ARCHIVE MINING — FINAL STATUS
Sections available: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10
Sections not in archive: 7, 8, 9
Section Pages Status Primary investigative yield
Section 2 194 ✅ Extensively mined (Passes 23–38) Arnold, Muroc, Davidson-Brown, Rhodes, Wenyon, Parker, Switzer/Madden, Springfield/Brown/CIC cluster, Intelligence coordination memos
Section 3 190 ⚠️ Low yield (Pass 38) Bad OCR + stamp artifacts. Page 163 is repetitive stamp overlay, not substantive.
Section 4 214 ⚠️ Low yield (Pass 38) Heavily redacted ESPIONAGE cases, administrative memos. Mantell clipping (pages 149-151) recovered as embedded newspaper clipping.
Section 5 208 ✅ Mined (Passes 22–34) Twinkle, La Paz, Cabell, Belmont master memo, Kodiak ONI, Phoenix-Blythe, Mantell P-51, Scully, Hottel, Noack, Adcock, Pervier, civilian correspondence cluster, DeWayne Johnson/UCLA, pre-Scully rumor network, Turner, Collins 1967, Hixenbaugh/Petrone
Section 6 58 ✅ Mined (Passes 11, 13, 21, 27) OSI cumulative sighting log (Sightings 1–204), Stanfield/LaPaz, Cabell directive, Frank Scully teletype
Section 10 184 ✅ Concluded (Pass 37) Secondary-source administrative routing, contactee movement clipping books. 1 primary case (Peyerl).
Overall assessment: The substantive primary-source investigative material is concentrated in Sections 2, 5, and 6. Sections 3 and 4 are administrative boilerplate and heavily redacted ESPIONAGE redactions — not primary UAP investigative records. Section 10 is confirmed secondary-source. The archive has been effectively exhausted at the primary-case level.

62-HQ-83894 CASE MINING (ROLLING)
The FBI 62-HQ-83894 flying-discs case file (Sections 2–6 and 10, 1,262 OCR'd pages) is being mined case-by-case for items AARO's official catalog only references generically. Pass 38 mining (Section 2 primary investigative material) produced comprehensive synthesis of the Kenneth Arnold June 24, 1947 Cascade Mountain sighting. Pages filed so far:
- maury-island-1947 ../fbi-62hq83894/cases/maury-island-1947.md — the Bureau's contemporaneous July–August 1947 Maury Island paper trail (Crisman/Dahl, Davidson-Brown B-25 crash, Kenneth Arnold, Raymond Palmer, the alleged sabotage calls, FBI's internal "definitely not carrying parts of a disc" finding, Twining's "wash out" quote).
- philadelphia-1950-soap-suds-disc ../fbi-62hq83894/cases/philadelphia-1950-soap-suds-disc.md — September 26, 1950 Philadelphia "soap suds" disc; four PPD officers, six-foot lavender-glowing object, soft landing, dissolution into sticky residue over 15–25 minutes; two cross-corroborating FBI memos plus the "Flying Saucer Just Dissolves" press headline; closest mid-century FBI-documented analog to the angel-hair phenomenon.
