Opt out

On the main repos that I still have on Github I've been adding the copilot-ignore LLM training opt-out. It is tiresome that I have to do this, but it is what it is. Also, before you start laughing, I have absolutely no expectation that this will be effective. They will probably just ignore it anyway, because bizniz model and number-go-up innit. It's more of a symbolic act of showing disapproval.

Although I am on Github I don't endorse it. My repo policy is to not be precious about platforms, and to put code up in all of the places where it might be found. Like leaving a tag on the side of a bridge. To me, public availability of public code is what it's all about. Coding for the people.

Honestly, when the current AI fad burns out I am going to have so much schadenfreude. Industrial levels of it. I will mercilessly mock the AI bros as they get bulk fired from their six figure salary bigtech grifter jobs and are perp-walked out from their cubicles, and I won't care at all if they have N kids to feed. Think of all the kids not fed because of the years of LLM bullshit and blatant abuse as these lazy no-talent know-nothings lied, stole and plagiarised the work of millions of writers, artists, and scientists worldwide.

A subsequent thing that I found out is that on Github you can go to settings/copilot and opt out of a whole bunch of crap. I have less than zero interest in ever using copilot, and I only use Github in the most minimal old skool way, avoiding any of the lock-in features.
