Francis Bacon
Francis Bacon (1561–1626) was an English philosopher, statesman, scientist, and essayist who played a pivotal role in the development of the scientific method and modern empirical thought. Serving as Attorney General and later Lord Chancellor under James I, he combined a distinguished political career with influential philosophical writing. His major works, including The Advancement of Learning, Novum Organum, and The New Atlantis, argued that knowledge should be grounded in observation and experimentation rather than tradition or authority. Widely regarded as one of the founders of modern scientific inquiry, Bacon's ideas profoundly shaped the course of philosophy and science.
