Claudius Bombarnac


The novel follows Claudius Bombarnac, a French journalist and special correspondent, who travels on the Trans-Caspian Railway from the Caucasus through Central Asia toward China. Hoping for an exciting story to report, he is initially disappointed by the uneventful journey. As the train crosses remote regions, however, the passengers become caught up in a series of dramatic events, including attacks by bandits, a kidnapping, and daring rescues. Bombarnac finds himself reporting—and participating in—the very adventures he had wished for.
