Le Superbe Orénoque


The novel follows a scientific expedition up the Orinoco River in Venezuela to investigate its upper reaches and determine the true source of the river. Among the travelers is Jeanne de Kermor, a young Frenchwoman disguised as a man. She has joined the expedition to search for her missing father, Colonel de Kermor, who disappeared years earlier while exploring the region. As the party travels through the South American interior, they encounter rapids, dense forests, Indigenous communities, and dangerous criminals before Jeanne ultimately discovers the truth about her father.
