Hulk Hogan memorabilia continues to attract major money from wrestling collectors, with one of his championship belts from the height of Hulkamania selling for an incredible six-figure sum.

The WWF World Heavyweight Championship belt associated with Hogan’s WrestleMania 2 appearance was recently offered as part of Heritage Auctions’ Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction (https://sports.ha.com/itm/wrestling-collectibles/others/1986-hulk-hogan-wwf-heavyweight-championship-belt-gifted-by-hogan-to-family-friend-photo-matched-to-wrestlemania-ii/a/50087-80123.s) .

WrestleMania 2 took place on April 7, 1986, in three different cities, with the final portion of the event held at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. Hogan headlined the Los Angeles card by defending the WWF World Heavyweight Championship against King Kong Bundy inside a steel cage.

Hulk Hogan’s WrestleMania 2 Championship Belt Sells For $414,800 The championship features the famous globe design closely associated with Hogan’s first WWF title reign. The WWF logo appears prominently on the main plate, while flags from several countries are featured on the side plates.

According to the auction, the belt sold for an impressive $414,800, including the buyer’s premium, on August 21.

Adding to its value was the belt’s connection to WrestleMania 2. Heritage Auctions said it was photo-matched to an image of Hogan taken on the day of the event, as well as several promotional photographs from around the same period.

The auction listing also revealed an interesting story about how the championship left Hogan’s possession.

According to Heritage Auctions, Hogan gifted the belt to the son of a close family friend. It was reportedly handed over backstage in a green room following one of Hogan’s victories.

The championship remained with the same family for years before eventually making its way to auction. Its history and photographic evidence helped establish its connection to one of the most famous periods of Hogan’s career.

Hogan’s WrestleMania 2 battle with King Kong Bundy remains a memorable moment from the early years of WrestleMania.

The storyline heading into the event saw Bundy brutally attack Hogan on Saturday Night’s Main Event, leaving the WWF Champion with injured ribs. Hogan nevertheless entered WrestleMania with his ribs heavily taped and successfully defended his championship inside the cage.

The bout also holds a unique place in WWE history as the only traditional steel cage match to headline a WrestleMania.
