DOUGLASS PARK — After closing early Saturday due to rain storms, Riot Fest will also be starting later Sunday.

The festival announced on social media that “Due to the overnight rains and to remediate the moistness of the park grounds, we are anticipating gates opening at 2 p.m.”

The festival schedule for the day on the Riot Fest website has not yet been updated, still listing acts like local bands Largemouth and Rose of Demise who were scheduled to play around noon.

As the fest made the announcement just before the original scheduled opening at 11 a.m., some commenters expressed their frustration with the timing.

“What the f*ck Riot Fest?! Why couldn’t you decide this earlier before we showed up to stand in line?!” one fest-goer said.

Another worried about their wedding slot at the Riot Fest chapel: “I’m suppose to get married at 1:30! Do we lose our slot or is it just being pushed back?”

But props to the commenter who trotted out a classic line from headliner Alanis Morrissette, which the previous commenter might appreciate: “ITS LIKE RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIN / ON YA WEDDIN DAY”.

Festival officials encourage downloading the official festival app to stay the most up-to-date on set timings.

Heavy rainfall is expected through early Sunday morning, with a possible thunderstorm before 1 p.m. followed by a chance of showers and the temperature falling to around 64 by 4 p.m, according to the National Weather Service.

Riot Fest’s day two on Saturday was cut short due to storms, with the festival moving up headliners and cancelling sets to accommodate the truncated festival schedule.
