Galveston County Sheriff’s Office deputy fired after ‘unacceptable’ tailgating, impeding traffic

A Galveston County Sheriff’s Office deputy was fired after a video showed the officer tailgating another vehicle at an "extremely close distance," according to an announcement from the sheriff's office on Monday.
Along with tailgating, the video posted to social media showed the deputy impeding traffic lanes, which stopped other drivers from being able to safely pass. The deputy was driving a marked patrol vehicle at the time.
"The conduct demonstrated in the video was inappropriate, unacceptable and inconsistent with the standards expected of every member of the Galveston County Sheriff's Office. This type of behavior will NOT be tolerated," Galveston County Sheriff Jimmy Fullen said in a statement.
The sheriff’s office did not name the deputy in the video.
