iceπŸšͺ I C E A T T H E D O O R

DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR
you can talk through the door.
opening it can be treated as
letting them in

ASK FOR A WARRANT
say: SLIDE THE WARRANT UNDER
THE DOOR.
then read two things on it:
the top, and the signature line

ONLY A JUDGE'S WARRANT COUNTS
signed by a JUDGE, from a COURT
= they may enter
signed by a DHS or ICE officer
= they may NOT enter

IF IT IS NOT SIGNED BY A JUDGE
say: I DO NOT CONSENT
TO YOUR ENTRY.
keep the door closed

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ANSWER
you need not say where you were
born or how you entered.
do not lie, and do not show false
papers - say nothing instead

DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING
not until a lawyer has read it.
signing can give up your right to
a hearing

police🚨 P O L I C E S T O P S

STAY CALM. KEEP HANDS VISIBLE.
do not argue, resist or run,
even if you are in the right

ASK IF YOU CAN GO
say: AM I FREE TO GO?
if yes, walk away calmly
if no, you are being detained

YOU CAN REFUSE TO ANSWER
say: I DO NOT WANT TO TALK
TO YOU.

YOU CAN REFUSE A SEARCH
say: I DO NOT CONSENT
TO A SEARCH.
they may still pat down your
outer clothing if they suspect
you are armed. saying no is not
an admission of anything

arrestπŸ”‘ I F A R R E S T E D

SAY TWO THINGS, THEN STOP TALKING
1. I AM USING MY RIGHT
TO REMAIN SILENT.
2. I WANT A LAWYER.
then say nothing else. this holds
even if they have a warrant

YOU GET A PHONE CALL
police may not listen if you call
a lawyer. memorize one number -
you will not have your phone

DO NOT DISCUSS YOUR CASE
not with police, not with other
detainees, not on the jail phone.
those calls are recorded

YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO A LAWYER
in an immigration case you may
not be given one for free. ask
for the list of free legal
service providers

recordπŸ“– R E C O R D I N G

YOU MAY RECORD IN PUBLIC
police and federal agents doing
their job in a public place can
be recorded. do not interfere

THEY MAY NOT DELETE IT
police may not demand your phone
or delete footage without a
warrant

WRITE IT DOWN AFTERWARD
badge numbers, patrol car number,
agency, witnesses, time, place.
memory fades fast

This is general information,
not legal advice.
