Amatur Notes From:

The “Good Enough” Muslim | Signs of the Hour Ep. 10 | Dr. Omar Suleiman
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoAkwd7M3Cg&t=425s

There will be a point when saying there is no God but Allah or just praying the basic prayers or having 1/10 of iman, of faith in Allah and the oneness of God will be enough to make it into paradise.

The purpose of religion which is truth, can be lost when the people turn it into culture, identity, comfort, or a pagan idol like comomodity.
And just like the information of and about Islam will remain the knowledge won't stay with the people as the day of judgement begins to near.
Ilm, knowledge and iman, faith, are closely tied together in Islam.
The trend globally for religions is that the people slowely begin to lose their knowledge of scripture and become looser in conduct and adherance to the religion.
Alhamdulillah, muslims although struggling just the same, manage to hold on a little longer.

This breakdown of Islam or any religion happens when we forefit the knowledge given to us by God and the prophets and decide to live by our egos and try to find our own path.
At that point the religion becomes aesthetic, and a feel good performance. When that happens, the issue doesn't stem from the Ilm (knowledge) but from the person recieving it.
"When people don't care to know the truth anymore, then truth is no longer the ultimate guide in how they approach religion."

Dr. Suleiman quotes a hadith from the Prophet sallallaihi wasallam about how religion is approached as time goes on. I think he mentioned sahi muslim as the source.
"hasten to do good deeds before tests and trials come to you like pieces of a dark night."
He also noted that the Prophet PBUH said that there will will come a time that a person wakes up and is a beliver (a mumin) and they go to sleep a disbeliver, or
they're already a disbeliver by morning and a person will sell/trade his religion for something so small of this world. [I don't know the source for this one. I'll have to find it later].

When trials and tribulations hit and if you believe at the time that islam is supposed to give you worldly promise and make you feel good before all else, then you will abandon the religion.
You and I need to be on guard with our inner selves and be honest about our intentions for following islam everyday since we're approaching a time where you can lose faith in a day or night.

In a lesser known narration tells of the prophet saying that (people entered into the religion in crowds and they will leave it in crowds.) Each generation interprets this differently
acording to their experiences. I take it as advice not to measure my faith by the number of people who join the religion or leave it. I have to afirm it for myself each and every day.
