For three full days, my cat has been missing again.

This time, I did not panic.
After all, he came back before, and he's actually much more mature now.

Besides that, I realized that he's a cat, and he has his own way to go.
This might sound cold, but he's not the cute little kitten that needs protection anymore.
If he leaves and does not come back, I would be sad, yes, but I would be fine with that.

Maybe him going missing for a week and coming back changed something inside me.
I love him the same as always, but I was much more relaxed this time because I knew he had come back before.
And he was fine alone, all the time outside.
He doesn't need our protection against other animals.
He doesn't need the catnip we feed him.
He doesn't need the water bowl we serve him.
He can sleep in the rain.
He proved all that.
If that's the life he chooses, it's fine with me.
If he chooses to come home and have some quality time with good food and loving people, I am more than happy about it.

I am not worried for him because of natural predators anymore.
I am not really worried for him because of big roads anymore, either.
He demonstrated he can handle it.

The only concern that will probably never go away is other people.
In my area, there's a lot of political movement to ban or force-sterilize unsterilized cats.
Fuck that.
My cat is a cat, he's not a toy.
He's not my toy.
And he's certainly not the toy of any politician.
I dare anyone to touch him.
The rule is simple: You take his balls, I take yours.
And maybe some other things.

People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people.
