Life Line
Professor Hugo Pinero has invented a machine capable of determining the exact moment of a person's death. Dismissed as a fraud by scientists and threatened by powerful life-insurance companies whose business depends on uncertainty, Pinero sets out to prove that his discovery works. But knowing precisely when death will come raises unsettling questions about fate, free will, and whether some knowledge is better left undiscovered.
