Clerambault


Set during the First World War, the novel follows Agénor Clérambault, a respected French poet and intellectual. At the outbreak of war, he initially shares the patriotic enthusiasm of those around him. However, after the death of his son in combat, he begins to question the nationalism and militarism that have consumed Europe.
