Old Internet Sites | Rediscovering Old Websites

The old internet typically refers to Web 1.0 websites - before dynamic scripting with PHP and Javascript were available however it can also refer to very simple pages made with PHP at the beginning of Web 2.0 like forums or wikis. Webpages were handwritten in plain HTML or PHP with inline styles. There were many popular web hosting sites such as Geocities, Angelfire and Tripod that people used to host their own websites instead of just using social media. There wasn't really a cabal of major sites which dominated the entire internet like there is now with Google, Reddit, Twitter etc. but instead a lot of small sites which existed equally.
